In Switzerland, a country that has 4 official languages, Migros Supermarkets provide all kind of goods to probably more than half of the population. Very often it appears that, like most of Swiss products, Migros items are created, designed, and promoted by German-speaking people. Mirador consists of a medium-size table salt box that a lot of citizens in the country know and buy regularly. But does the name Mirador sound weird to anyone? For
over a hundred years, miradors have been used around the world to complete
the surveillance system of jails and concentration camps. Improve your security by using your own Mirador box! Install the home-surveyor in your kitchen, by the main door or out looking your garden. "The Mirador Project” has been launched by Michèle Lechevalier in 2003. Artists are welcome to contact her and/or to propose it’s own version of the project. Fabien Friederich has mailed Mirador boxes to consulates in Geneva during the G8 Summit of Evian in June 2003 in order to let them realize the limits of their security systems and to let them know that people also watch G8 government policies.
